To further enhance their understanding of Ancient Egypt, the Form III (Year III) girls had an enriching and informative trip to the British Museum this week.
During the visit, the girls explored a wide range of fascinating artefacts, gaining insights into early Egypt, daily life in Ancient Egypt, mummies, and the renowned Nebamun. Additionally, they learned about the significance of various Egyptian symbols and the animals that were part of Ancient Egyptian life. The girls also learned about the Rosetta Stone, hieroglyphics, gods and goddesses and the Egyptian afterlife.
Today, we visited The British Museum, and it was really fun! We saw lots of scary mummies, different animals, how they made their tools, and we also saw lots of Egyptian symbols. The jewellery was also incredible, plus we saw Cleopatra as a mummy and some skeleton parts! After lunch, we saw lots of huge statues and tried to look for the symbols on them. There was also a huge statue of a pharaoh called Amenhotep III. Finally, we got to see the Rosetta Stone, which is split into three parts: hieroglyphics, demotics and Ancient Greek. It is one of a kind, very pretty and written in tiny print. We can’t wait to visit again!
