Our Queen’s Scholars enjoyed a History Masterclass led by Mr David Willows, Head of History at Big Queen’s this week. The Scholars investigated the role of women during the Second World War and were inspired by courageous women such as Diana Barnato Walker, one of the first female pilots, who delivered planes to RAF units during the war. We are especially proud as she was once a student at Queen’s College, London! The Scholars discovered the vital contributions women made to code-breaking and espionage, as well as the work of the Women’s Land Army, the Lumber Jills, and how the then Princess Elizabeth worked as an auto mechanic. It was a fascinating masterclass that left our Scholars feeling proud of the remarkable women who shaped history.
