I Senior Biology Field Trip

I Seniors Biology students embarked on an exciting field trip to Flatford Mills Field Centre from 25th to 27th April, where they conducted hands-on investigations in the great outdoors.

From random sampling of species distribution using quadrats to exploring shingle ridge succession, students also pursued their own research interests—ranging from studying the phenotypic plasticity of holly leaves to pond dipping and measuring pond snail sizes with calipers. With warm sunshine setting the perfect scene for fieldwork, the trip was enriched by encounters with hares, muntjac deer, and nightingales.

Of course, no weekend of exploration would be complete without a well-earned ice cream stop! This immersive experience brought Biology to life and deepened students’ understanding of ecological processes in action.
