This week, all our I Junior and I Senior Geography pupils embarked on a three-day residential field trip to Sheringham on the stunning North Norfolk coast. With sunshine and blue skies throughout, we experienced the very best of this idyllic coastal setting which were perfect conditions for fieldwork and learning. Students conducted in-depth investigations into the effectiveness of local coastal management strategies and explored how quality of life varies across the town. These real-world case studies offered invaluable insights and a chance to apply classroom learning to a dynamic environment.Â

Alongside rigorous academic work, there were plenty of opportunities to enjoy the surroundings. From scenic seafront walks (and many kilometres covered!) to well-earned ice cream stops, the trip was a fantastic balance of study and outdoor adventure. Students observed coastal processes first-hand, spotting clear evidence of slumping and landslides – although our fossil-hunting efforts sadly didnât uncover any mammoth remains this year! The field trip was not only academically enriching but also a brilliant chance for students to bond, build confidence, and immerse themselves in the subject. A huge well done to all who took part for their hard work, enthusiasm, and curiosity.Â
