Our talented Form VI girls have been busy this week designing and building their very own playground models. From towering slides to imaginative climbing frames, each project reflects some of our values such as creativity and collaboration, as well as problem-solving skills. Like all engineers, they had to consider their users and the age of the children that would be playing in their playground. They also had to ensure it was visually colourful and beautifully decorated to entice people to visit and play in the playground. It was lovely to see how well our girls worked together to achieve their plan. What a fantastic way to combine fun with learning – well done, Form VI!
Some girls commented:
‘When I made the swing, I wanted it to be visually beautiful so that children would be drawn to it. So, I used the brightest materials I could find. We even made a little soft landing at the foot of the swing just in case the child was scared and fell.’
‘My group had a playground that was private and surrounded by plants: we made sure it had our favourite thing – a seesaw! We also included a treehouse! What child does not want to climb up a treehouse and slide back down on a circular slide into a pool of water!’
‘Our construction is made for older children with obstacle courses and rickety bridges to cross over. We had so much fun making our structures and I wish we could play in the playground we made!’
