Last Thursday, during their Italian lesson, all pupils in Class 2 Italian had a virtual meeting with their pen pals from Liceo Scientifico Versari in Italy. They had been communicating with them through emails in Italian and English for the past three months. Here is what some of them had to say about the experience.
“Having a pen pal from Italy was really interesting as we could see what life is like in northern Italy. Today we also had a virtual meeting with them during our Italian lesson where we asked them more questions which was really fun! I will be keeping in touch with my new friend over the summer.” Emmylou (C2DK)
“It was so fascinating to see all our pen pals and speak to them, and we would love to repeat this next year but with our better and improved vocabulary. Our favourite part was introducing ourselves and ask them some questions on what they like so that we could get to know them better. This pen pal experience has been wonderful, and I really enjoy every Thursday writing back to my pen pal. We believe it has improved our Italian a lot and probably improved their English. “We have been emailing them for a while now and we had a call to practise our verbal Italian with them. We shortly spoke about ourselves and then they did too. They had to ask us all a question in Italian, and it was fun to hear all the different questions we got! It was also interesting to hear their answers to our questions, and their English was very good! It was a laugh and excellent practice for our verbal Italian.
