For the first time ever, Queen’s College organised our own Bronze DofE expedition, allowing us greater control over the pupils’ experience. On Friday morning, 56 Class 1 pupils gathered outside Tottenham Hale station, eager to start their expedition.

Divided into 8 teams of 7, the pupils ventured into the depths of Hertfordshire, walking through the Lee Valley from Waltham Cross to Broxbourne, camping at Danemead Scout Camp, and finishing with a walk to Hertford. After Team 4 arrived first to camp, Sascha P cried “this is the best day of my life.” Some pupils cooked pasta with homemade tomato sauce, some roasted marshmallows, and some fried steaks on a Trangia! They were not just surviving; they were thriving. This was no ordinary DofE experience, it was fun.

When pupils returned buzzing from a fantastic experience, one parent was overheard saying, “I’ve never heard of people having fun on DofE”. Mission accomplished!
