At Queen’s, our girls are always striving to be ‘Green’, and one pupil, Maya, took this mission to heart by launching a fantastic initiative in 2023.
Every Sunday morning, Maya and her family set out to clean the streets of their neighbourhood, picking up litter and encouraging others to take pride in their surroundings and, most importantly, to care for the planet. According to Maya’s mum, the community has been incredibly supportive of the project, making Maya and her family feel proud of the positive impact they are making.
Taking her passion a step further, Maya recently wrote to Kensington Palace, inviting Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday. In her letter, she also shared details about her initiative, NW8 GREEN SQUAD and to her delight and surprise, Kensington Palace replied though, rather unfortunately, the Royals were unable to attend.
